Our little graduates written a book about what they love about coming to Jenkintown Day Nursery each day. The children love coming to JDN to learn letters and numbers, learning to tell time, going on field trips, playing soccer with Coach T, learning songs from Ms. Jessie, and so much more.
On Friday, June 16th, Fathers of all sorts came out to our annual “Happy Hour” with a Father’s Day Brew. The children with their favorite fathers to have root beer floats, make a special craft and hang out with other DADs! Everyone had a great time!!
The children in Room 2 with Ms. Kasinda and Ms. Uraina celebrated Flag Day with special treats, flags and sunglasses! The children had a ball learning about our country’s flag. One of our parents, Ms. Spicer read a lovely story to the children as well!
On June 7th, it was Superhero Day at our center! The center has collected personal care items for residents at the Orth Home in Philadelphia. For their efforts, the children came to school dressed as superheroes, did fun activities, and helped fill the bags for the residents.
The children went to the Please Touch Museum in Philadelphia and had a BLAST! The children played in the different areas and even went on the Merry-Go-Round! See the classrooms for more pictures!
Today, we released the butterflies that the children hatched from caterpillars. Mr. Ted held his usual science classes on the life cycle of the butterfly. The children learned the stages from caterpillar to butterfly. The grand finale was the great release of all 25 butterflies. A special thank you to Mrs. Barbara, a long time supporter and grandmother of Jenkintown Day Nursery, for donating the butterflies.

The week of May 1st through the 5th of May, we will be celebrating our unsung heroes—OUR TEACHERS!! Our teachers work tiressly through the day teaching and caring for our little ones. We will be honoring them like the STARS they are with a Hollywood theme. Please see the flyer by the front desk for more information.
Have you met our famed Science Teacher, Mr. Ted? He is our resident Science Guy who teaches the children everything about Science. This week the children are focusing on hermit crabs and their habitat. He also spoke to the children about what hermit crabs like to eat, what their shells mean to them, and each child was able to view them through the hermit crabs’ special cage.
Last month, the children learned about absorption with seeds. They planted seedlings and saw how the roots took hold and drank the water. Each child was able to create their own dirt pod. At the end of the month, the children were able to take home their very own Coleus plant. The Coleus plant has been a fixture in the center for a few years and has continued to produce offspring for the children to take home.
This week, April 24th through April 28th, we will be celebrating our favorite little people–Our Children! Each day will be centered around the theme of STEAM. STEAM is an approach to education that emphasizes the integral role of arts and creativity in the learning process for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math.
